2025 Event | Wednesday, October 1* at 7P

*In case of inclement weather, the rain date is the following day (Thursday) at the same time and location. Weather updates and announcements will be available on the Village of Montgomery's Facebook page.

Each year, the Village of Montgomery's Historic Preservation Commission hosts a Cemetery Walk at Riverside Cemetery on the first Wednesday of October at 7:00P. Guests are led through the cemetery in small groups to meet the fascinating "ghosts" of early pioneers and other cemetery residents.

This event, geared towards all ages, is not a traditional scary cemetery walk but rather a fun glimpse into the past with authentic characters portraying historical figures of Montgomery. Each year, the Historic Preservation Commission works to highlight new stories and icons of our community. Each year’s event highlights various Montgomery residents of the past who each have unique stories to tell.

Visitors are welcome to arrive any time between 7:00 and 8:00. Tours begin at the corner of River and Taylor Streets on the southeast side of the cemetery about every 10 minutes. Parking is available along River Street near Montgomery Park.

Tours begin near the corner of River and Taylor Street about every 10 minutes. Don't forget your flashlight! Due to the uneven terrain, the HPC asks all participants to bring a flashlight and sturdy shoes. There is no charge for this event.
