[ARCHIVED] Twenty-Two Years and Running for the Montgomery River Run

Runners running on River St. for the River Run 2025

Lace up your running shoes and mark your calendars for Saturday, October 4—Montgomery's annual River Run is back for the twenty-second year. Whether you're a seasoned racer or just looking for a fun day out with the family, this year's event offers something for everyone, with the classic 5K and 10K races and a fun Kids' Dash.

Start your morning with fun for the little ones! At 8:30A, Montgomery's youngest athletes will hit the pavement for the 0.26-mile Kids' Dash, starting from Montgomery Park. Open to all ages (but geared for kids eight and under), this mini-race gives children a chance to be part of the action! Every young runner will earn a medal at the finish line, and commemorative shirts are available for those who want to remember the day.

"The race may be small, but it's mighty when it comes to giving back," says Race Director Rosie Boeing. "We're thrilled to host the Kids' Dash again this year. As a mom, I know how important it is to get kids moving and involved in fun, healthy activities as a family."

Proceeds from the event will benefit CASA of Kendall County and the Montgomery Foundation. So, every step you take will help a great cause! The event is made possible through the generous support of sponsors such as this year's presenting sponsor, Montgomery Place Apartments, and gold sponsor, Engineering Enterprises, Inc. For a complete list of sponsors, visit the race's website.

The 5K and 10K events are open to all ages and kick off at 9:00A, with participants running or walking the scenic course along the Fox River. Every racer will receive a 2025 commemorative shirt and a finisher medal. Want to bring your crew? Sign up as a team (4+ members) and save $5 per runner! For the competitive spirit, the top male and female finishers will receive plaques, and the top three in each age group will score special pins to adhere to their medals.

Take advantage of a morning of community fun, fitness, and philanthropy. Registration is open online, with limited space available!

Road closures begin at 8:15A, with race and awards expected to wrap up around 10:45A. Free parking is available near Village Hall and surrounding areas, so bring the whole family down to cheer on the runners.
