Settler’s Cottage, Montgomery’s historical museum, will be reopening on Sunday, May 21st for the summer season. On May 21st the museum will be open from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Visitors are invited to stop in to learn more about Montgomery’s rich history in this restored 1840s home owned by Village founder Daniel S. Gray, located in front of the Village Hall at 200 N. River Street.
Exhibits include information on Jim Phillips (the local environmentalist known as “The Fox”), AllSteel photos and items, art by Montgomery resident Phillip Basuier, and the Civil War (did you know we had a Civil War camp in Montgomery?). In addition, a new exhibit focuses on the 100th anniversary of the United States joining into World War I and the Montgomery soldiers who fought in that war. The museum is free and is handicapped accessible.
