At 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9th, battlefield expert Robert Mueller will present “Pearl Harbor: A Day of Infamy” at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 N. River Street. The event is free and open to the general public.
December 7, 1941: It was a day that our parents, grandparents, and families would never forget--a day that would live in infamy forever more. That morning Japanese warplanes appeared over the Hawaiian Islands to launch a surprise aerial bombardment of American air and naval installations. It was the event that propelled the United States into the Second World War. Mueller will review why and how the Japanese almost wiped out the American Pacific Fleet in one fell swoop. Using individual stories of the men who responded to the attack, Mr. Mueller presents the tactics and the consequences of the most treacherous assault ever launched upon American soil. The program ends with a review of the surviving relics and, appropriately, a visit to National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
The monthly Senior Lunch and activity for 55+ will begin at 11:00 a.m. after the entertainment. There is a $5 cost for the lunch and pre-registration by July 2nd is required.
