[ARCHIVED] Ruth Dieterich Wagner Day August 7th

Ruth Wagner

The Montgomery Village Board has designated August 7th as “Ruth Dieterich Wagner Day” in honor of Mrs. Wagner’s 100 birthday.
Ruth was born in Na-Au-Say Township on August 7, 1912 to Herman and Hazel Armbruster and graduated from East Aurora High School in 1930. She married Leslie Dieterich and they raised their son Thomas at the family home on SE River Road in Montgomery where she still continues to live more than 70 years later. Les died in 1977 and Ruth later married Albert Wagner, who died in 2005.
Over the years Ruth Diederich Wagner has given countless hours of volunteer service to various organizations, including the Aurora Wayside Cross Board, the Aurora Historical Society, Family Counseling Service, Aurora YWCA, Jennings Terrace, Bardwell School PTA, United Way, the Kiwanis, the East Aurora School District and the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora. She was named a YWCA “Woman of Distinction” in 1980 and received the Aurora Kiwanis’ “Service to God and Man Award.” She also was named the Grand Marshal of Montgomery Fest in 2003.
Mrs. Wagner’s family is holding a family reunion and garden tea party during the first weekend in August to celebrate her centennial birthday.
