[ARCHIVED] April 2013 is National Code Enforcement Officer Appreciation Month in the State of Illinois!

Governor Pat Quinn signed a proclamation recognizing Code Enforcement Officers and their vital role in providing for the safety, health, and welfare of citizens throughout the State of Illinois through the enforcement of local codes or ordinances addressing various issues of building, zoning, housing, animal control, environmental health, and life safety.

Recently, the Village of Montgomery announced expanded public information initiatives for code enforcement that aim to inform residents about data on foreclosed/vacant homes and recurring issues regarding codes within the Village of Montgomery. Mike Klupar, supervisor of code enforcement, presented this month to seniors regarding senior service initiatives in Montgomery.
Laura Rouse-DeVore has been the Village’s code enforcement officer since April 2012. The State’s proclamation marking the 20th anniversary of the Illinois Association of Code Enforcement was a direct result of Rouse-DeVore’s efforts in her role as 1st Vice President of this Association and marked the first time that code enforcement officers have been recognized on a State level in Illinois.

“I am very proud of Mike and Laura’s efforts to educate our residents about the benefits of code enforcement and property maintenance,” said Assistant Village Administrator Jamie Ludovic, head of the Community Development Department. “The condition of your property directly relates to your health, your neighbor’s health and the overall health of the community.”

New code enforcement FAQs are now available on the Village’s website at http://www.ci.montgomery.il.us/DocumentCenter/View/919
