[ARCHIVED] March 31st is Edgar A. Barens Day

Last week the Montgomery Village Board approved a proclamation designating March 31st as Edgar A. Barens Day. Barens is a Montgomery resident whose most recent documentary, “PRISON TERMINAL: The Last Days of Private Jack Hall,” was nominated for a 2014 Academy Award in the category of Documentary Short Stories.

According to the proclamation, “Mr. Barens’ success and achievement is an example to all citizens and worthy of recognition and emulation.” March 31st was selected as Edgar A. Barens day because HBO will premiere PRISON TERMINAL on that date. A subscription to HBO is necessary to view the film.

Barens previous works include documentary film, experimental shorts, music videos and public service announcements that have been screened at film festivals and broadcast nationally and internationally. Barens is a 1979 graduate of Oswego High School and later received his bachelor’s degree and Master of Fine Arts in Cinema and Photography from Southern Illinois University.
