[ARCHIVED] Innocence Betrayed: Secrets on the Fox River

On Monday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Montgomery Village Hall, author and former Montgomery resident Dick Gove will speak about his recent mystery fiction book, Innocence Betrayed: Secrets on the Fox River.

The book is set in Montgomery in 1958 and mentions many people and places from Montgomery and the surrounding area, such as the sheepyards, Riverside Cemetery and Michael’s Grocery Store. It’s an engaging tale of three youngsters who get caught up in a mysterious disappearance that occurs in Montgomery and leads to all sorts of adventures.

Dick will talk about his memories of growing up in Montgomery and how he incorporated those into his book. Dick was the son of Clyde and Helen Gove and grew up in the house that is now the Village’s historical museum known as “Settler’s Cottage.” He attended Nicholson Elementary School and West Aurora High School.

The evening will also include a meet-and-greet for anyone who may have known Dick or his family.
