The Montgomery Police Department would like to remind residents to secure your vehicles, garages, and homes. As the weather gets nicer, burglaries to motor vehicles, which are left unlocked with no forced entry, increase. These crimes of opportunity occur when suspects enter unlocked vehicles, remove their contents, and leave in short period of time.
Montgomery police officers recently conducted a detail on the west side of town in which they were pro-actively looking for unlocked vehicle doors. In a short span of time, many vehicles were found to be left unlocked. Although our officers left Crime Prevention Notices on these vehicles, we would like to take this opportunity to spread the word to as many people as possible in the hopes of preventing residents from unnecessarily becoming victims.
