Garbage & Recycling
LRS provides each home with a 95-gallon trash cart and a 65-gallon recycling cart. When putting out your trash, you must use your provided trash cart and recycling cart first. Then any additional items may be placed in the appropriate bags or marked containers alongside your trash or recycling cart. To report a missed pick-up or request a different cart size, please email LRS or call 844-633-3577. Requests for different size containers may incur a fee.

Under this contract, LRS will pick up unlimited weekly garbage and recycling. You must use your supplied trash or recycle cart first and then place additional garbage alongside your cart in the appropriate bags or marked containers. Loose piles of waste will not be collected.

2023 COLLECTION RATES
The monthly rate for August 1, 2023, through July 31, 2024, is $19.64 per household. The next rate change is scheduled for August 1, 2024.
A limited number of senior household garbage discount rates are available through LRS. Email the Utility Billing Department or call 630-896-1357 to join the waitlist or learn more about the program.
LRS is the exclusive provider of residential waste collection for the Village of Montgomery. This applies to all residential addresses in the Village but excludes Boulder Hill and other unincorporated areas. Boulder Hill residents must select their independent refuse hauler. Visit the Oswego Township Website or call 630-554-3214 for more information or a list of preferred providers.

The Kane County Recycles Green Guide provides valuable information on area recycling opportunities. County-wide recycling centers are open to all Montgomery residents (Kane and Kendall County). Still, some other services are available only for specific cities, so read the details carefully.
BRUSH AND YARD WASTE
Unlimited tied bundles of brush and bags of yard waste can be disposed of each week from April 1 through the end of November. There is no need for stickers.
Residents must tie bundles with just twine (not wire). They should not exceed 2' wide by 2' high and cannot exceed 4' in length. Each bundle must not exceed 50 pounds. In addition, residents can put out an unlimited number of yard waste bags and properly bundled brush piles each week for no additional charge.

LRS collects one (1) large item weekly. Call to schedule your collection day at 844-633-3577.
- Appliance or White Item - Washer, dryer, dishwasher, air conditioner, stove, refrigerator, dehumidifier, etc.
- Carpet - 4' (four foot) rolls not to exceed 50 pounds. Eight (8) rolls of carpet are considered one large item.
- Mattresses and Box Springs – Must be enclosed in a plastic mattress cover or wholly covered in plastic for health and safety reasons. Plastic mattress covers are available at hardware stores and other retail outlets such as Walmart, Target, Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot, and storage facilities.

CURBSIDE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE (HHW) AND ELECTRONIC WASTE PROGRAM (E-WASTE)
LRS offers Montgomery residents home collection services for Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste. These are two different services, and they are offered at various times throughout the year. Quarterly events are no longer held at Montgomery Public Works for Household Hazardous Waste or Electronic Waste.
This service takes place on the second (2nd) full week of the first month of each quarter. Requests must be submitted five weekdays before the start of the collection week in January, April, July, and October and placed out on your regular collection day by 6A.

HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTION
LRS has a simple online request process through its web portal. The website additionally includes a list of items to select from, clear instructions, and information regarding the collection. The hazardous waste collection team will provide the collection date within a few days of receiving the request, excluding holidays and weekends.

Only six holidays are observed by LRS: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
When a holiday falls on a Sunday or weekday, LRS will collect for the rest of that week the following day. Trash pickup will not be affected if the holiday falls on a Saturday. View the Holiday Pickup Schedule.
